The Second Longest Day of Travel
Ashley and myself have been traveling to Salzburg! We flew over "yesterday" and just arrived at our train station in Munich. Sadly, we missed our originally scheduled train by 5 minutes so had to wait for another 2 hours.
We finally got on the later train and ride through the Bravarian countryside. After an hour and half train ride plus figuring out how to hail a taxi we arrived at our Airbnb. Our host is Johanna, a lovely woman who rents out floors of various properties she owns. She lives between the various properties in Salzburg with her cat and her son.
We met with her and had drinks on the back porch of her home, with an Italian couple visiting as well. The Italians were fantastic and loved hearing about our stories of Georgia and Kentucky! They wanted to know how different Athens, GA is to Athens, Greece was (hint: we have no idea). And our host also initially assumed we were a Greek couple as well!
We were then let into our rooms (not yet shown...), about an hour later and we collapsed.
We literally woke up around 1PM because of the exhaustion of the plane ride and train rides. It was a little embarrassing, but less so than me almost passing out on the train to Salzburg yesterday. Anyways, we woke up, got ready and ate a little bit of food that I had purchased the day before. Earlier this morning, Lars Stransky of Vienna Philharmonic wrote to see if we would like to go to Mahler 9 at 2 today... sadly we did not have enough time to get over there. I'm sure we will see plenty more though.
We ended up walking to the Felsenreitschule where the ticket office for the Salzburg festival is located and picked up some tickets we had prepurchased. We then went to the Mirabell Gardens and stopped by the Mozarteum so that o could check in for the master classes that I am taking part in. From here Ashley and I went to get Italian food for dinner before waking back to our Salzburg home. Hopefully the rest of our days are just as good.
